Bad image error?

I have an application that prints a screen and has generated an error stating "The application or dll HPBF3221.dll is not a valid windows image file." This is new since we changed to Norton Antivirus from Mcafee. Any suggestions or direction would be appreciated.

Hi Bullet,

I haven't seen that error before, but it might be related to the printer driver user interface (HPBF3221.dll). I found some information on this driver here.

  • Have you tried upgrading the printer drivers?
  • Do you have issues when printing in general or just from LabVIEW?
  • How are you printing from LabVIEW? Can you use "File >> Print"?
  • What version of LabVIEW are you using?

Please attach a screenshot of the error message if you keep getting the error, thanks.

Reinstalled the drivers, no luck
Printing works outside of labview
Print front panel vi is what causes the error.
Attempting to disable the automatic updates for system and antivirus to see if that makes a difference.

Hi Bullet,

Thank you for the added information.

  • Does disabling the Norton Antivirus make a difference?

  • You mention that you are using a VI called "Print Front Panel.vi". Since this VI doesn't come with LabVIEW, please let me know if you get the same error when using the method shown below. You can simply add the code to the VI instead of the printing VI.

  • Can you use the standard "File >> Print..." functionality with your VI?

  • Do you get the same issue when printing from other VIs? If you do get the same issue with other VI, is is most likely because your Norton Antivirus corrupted some parts of the LabVIEW development system. In that case, please reinstall LabVIEW and let me know if that solves the issue.

I look forward to your answers, so we hopefully can resolve this issue, thanks.

This vi did come with labview, do you recommend replacing it with the code provided? See attachment for location of vi.

Hi Bullet,

My code does exactly the same as the "Print Panel.vi" so replacing the code wouldn't change anything. Do you have the answers to the rest of the questions from my previous post?

Thanks!

Update: If I venture to make a statement on a small trial period it would be that by disabling the Norton antivirus software the print error does not occur. This has been running like this now for a week without fault. Thanks for the help, I guess Norton is my next complaint avenue.
