Basic DB-25 to DB-9 connecting cable instead of Sartorius cable ?

Hello everyone. Can i use a basic DB-25 to DB-9 connecting cable instead of a Sartorius cable to interfacing between the com port and Sartorius scale. Sartorius DB-25 to DB-9 cable is expensive (85$) so i need a cheaper solution ?..

Hi Oesen,

ask Sartorius for a pin decription table for their serial port and check if they use the same as all other DB25 connectors. (Usually you coul dread that in the manual of your device.) When they use the standard pin out: use a cheap(er) cable, when not: make your own...

So i have to connect pin 2 from the output of the scale to pin 3 in my basic cable ?.

No, 2 would go to pin 2 on the 9 pin end.

Now using the chart you posted, match up the pins under the Sartorious description to the signal descriptions shown for the 25 pin but cross reference them to the pin number descriptions for the 9 pin on the link above.
