Best ambient to develop automations...

Hi there!

I'm suppose to do a research for my job and map various tools to automation development (e.g. find out what tool fits better to waht purpose). Examples: Delphi for hard calibrations (Scope mode of the Fluke5500), LabVIEW for simple calibrations (full HP34401A) and so on.

BUT, since i've started to do this, it became so hard to believe LabVIEW couldn't beat all other development ambients (like Delphi, VB).

I want your opinions! Is out there something better than LabVIEW? Is this a waste of time (and $) to search for other programs?

I'm not sure what you mean by hard calibrations vs simple but you will, of course, find that most of the inhabitants of the LabVIEW forum will answer that, No there aren't other environments for developing instrument control and data acquisition systems. There is a thread, it should be at the top of this forum when you look at the list, that asks about "Tell me about your large LabVIEW project". In that thread there are discussions of LabVIEW vs other languages. There have been a number of other threads addressing this issue in the past. I will also say that as powerful as LabVIEW is, National Instruments is working to make it even more powerful, with more targets (realtime OS's, multiple models of uProcessors, etc.) and to make the development environment more powerful in the profession project area.
