Big problem with report generation !

Hello,

I have a problem with report generation. My colleague developed a LabVIEW application by using the Report Generation Toolkit. On his computer, the report generation works (in development as well as the executable). But on my computer, neither the VI nor the executable work. However, the two computer configuration seems to be the same (except the fact that he has Windows XP Home edition whereas I have Windows XP Professional edition).

On his computer :
Windows XP Home edition
Labview 8.2
Office 2003
(it works)

On my computer :
Windows XP Professional edition
Labview 8.2
Office 2003
(it doesn't work)

Any help ?

Thank you in advance,

Julien

First, a silly question, do you have the same versions of MS Word on both computer ?

Then, could you post the code ?

PS : please, don't duplicate post (even in different languages) or at least post the one in french on the french forum and say explicitely that you duplicated your post. Thanks 😉

Thank you very much for your help (I will not send 2 messages any more Smiley Happy ).

Unfortunately I can't post the VI on this website. The problem has been found out (but not fixed yet !). It occures in "Word Import Module.vi" (property node : "Document - reading of VBProject information" => What does VBProject mean ???). See attached screenshot, maybe you will be able to help me.

The first problem is fixed (that was a problem of macro security in excel => Visual Basic Project have to be allowed). But there is another problem ! Please see attached file...Maybe you will have an idea of what could be the problem...

As shown in my previous post, the problem is in Word_Set_Chart_Colors.vi (which is called dynamically)

Here is another screenshot to show precisely where the error occurs (see attached file)

Help please...SOS ! Smiley Sad

Thanks

hmmm...

Not easy to say... Might be a compatibility issue, do you have the exact same version of word on the 2 computers ?

Have a look at this link (on NI knowledgeBase, this is often a good point to start searching ;))

The readme.htm says :

[...

Known Issues

  • (LabVIEW 8.x) The MS Office Report Express VI does not support signed or unsigned 64-bit integers.
  • (Office 2007) Several default settings in Microsoft Office 2007 differ slightly from previous versions. Reports you generate using Office 2007 might look different than reports you generate from other versions of Office because font sizes, cell sizes, and so on, differ.
...]

Hope this helps... good luck !

Just an information that could be useful for anybody : if you wish to use the Report Generation Toolkit and if you have Norton AntiVirus, deactivate the "Plug in Office" in "Options" !

Otherwise you are likeley to have some problems withs graph setting (colors, scales, etc...).

Hi !

Looks like you have some permission restricts on your PC ;). Do you log in as admin or as a user with limited rights?

I log in as user with limited rights. There is another advice which I can give : in Excel and Word, it can be useful to tick something like "Allow Visual Basic Project" (as well as setting the lowest macro security level of course) in "Options". That was the other reason for all my problems !

Best,

Julien
