Bizarre UAC dialog with LabVIEW

I have a customer using my primary "product" LabVIEW program (e.g. it has existed for years under many versions of LV, and many customers). He called me today while it was running, because all the LabVIEW windows disappeared and a UAC window appeared asking if he wanted to allow this program from an unknown manufacturer to make changes to his system. And the window noted that the program was "LabVIEW". While we were talking, the UAC disappeared and all the LabVIEW windows reappeared. As you probably expect, LV was still running in the background. The UAC had just taken over the screen.

His version of my program is in LV 2021. However, in LV 2015, 2018, 2021, and 2024, I've never seen, nor ever heard of a customer experiencing, a UAC box in the middle of running this program. (Or for that matter, any other LV program.) With LV, I've only seen those during installation and such. I suppose a UAC could pop up if the program, at some point, decided to try to write to a directory, and that directory had been given different access permissions since the program last ran. The IT folks are not supposed to touch this experiment computer, but I'll ask about that possibility.

Has anyone else seen this behavior? It seems very odd to me that the UAC would appear for no known reason. It seems very odd to me that the UAC would say that the software manufacturer is unknown. (I'm just going by memory, but I think LV UACs are more well-identified than that.) And it seems especially odd to me that the UAC would disappear on its own without any action by the user.

TIA - DaveT

Hi

We all know UAC is about having the right to configure or install something in Windows.

NI nowadays offer to install a component that makes Windows trust NI software :

Interestingly, it does not just install itself. You shall actively select/include it when you install something.

You find a discussion about it here :

Whether it will prevent bizarre UAC dialogs, I don't know.

I have not experienced a similarly mysterious UAC dialogue before.

Has the UAC dialogue occurred again since the original post? Can the customer take a photo on their phone of the computer screen? Does the dialogue appear when the application is executing a particular operation?
