Block Diagram Alignment Question

@price1 wrote:
This happens on all my vi's and as I mentioned even if I create a new one with only text objects.

Maybe your labview.ini file is funky. Close LabVIEW, rename it to e.g. labview.old, then try again opening your VIs.

Do you have some fancy multimonitor setup?

I have attached a VI that I am using to test the positioning of the scroll bars on the screen.  When I align the scrollbars such that these text objects align to my screen and save, when I load the load vi again they are out of alignment.

Try saving the VI with the diagram NOT maximized to fill the screen. (Click on the icon next to the X in the upper right corner, then manually drage the edges for the desired window size.

That seems to work.  If I do not maximize the screen then it will come back to the originally saved location.  Though I am not sure why this happens.  Does this happen when you maximize the screen? BTW I am using LabVIEW 8.0 on a Dell Latitude laptop with a docking station monitor.  But the same thing happens when I am just using my laptop screen.

Thanks for the help,

My religion forbids me use maximized windows, I really hate it whenever somebody posts their VI maximized! 😉

Could it be that maybe you have some weird second monitor defined (are you running multiple monitors?) and LabVIEW assumes some odd screen resolution before it gets maximized by the OS after opening?.

Hi price1,

Just like altenbach indicated, the position of the VI scrollbars will be saved only if the VI isn't maximized.  You can drag the screen to be as large as you want, but avoid maximizing if you want to maintain the window positioning.

I get this exact same problem. I create a new VI or work on an existing VI. Save it with the block diagram centered on the screen. Close the VI. Open the VI. Voila! It's way off-center. I've never had this problem with any previous versions of LabVIEW (v4.0 - v7.1).

a.winslow,
What version of LabVIEW are you using? What was the result of trying altenbach's suggestions?

Chris,

I'm currently using v8.0 of LabVIEW with numerous toolkits installed (DSC, PID, Report Generation, Database Connectivity, ...).

Also, I most often maximize the screen when I'm working on the block diagram. This was never a problem in the earlier versions I've worked with. If you can figure out what's happening I'd be much obliged.
