Break state not supported by COM -1073807331

Hi

I'm trying to make a small program in Labview, but I can't seen to control Tx on a RS232.
I've tried to control it with the property node "brake state", but i'm getting this error -1073807331.
Whitch just says that it is'nt possible. And I must say that does't help me.
I've tried on four PC's, and on two of them it works...

PC1: Program works
Labview version 8.5

PC2: Program works
Labview version 7.0

PC3: Program does'nt works
Labview version 7.0

PC4: Program does'nt works
Labview version 7.0

Please help me....

Sorry... All the PC's are using Windows XP.

And I've even tried many different COM ports!

Hi Gubbi,

What is different from PC's 1 & 2 versus PC's 3 & 4?

Is the serial port configuration identical?  Are you using similar ports?  or add-on serial port cards?

What OS are you using, (although I suspect Windows..)?  Are all the PCs the same (similar, ie: tower) or are you using Laptops, etc?

Hello JoeLabView

I dont't use laptops.
They are all using Windows XP.
PC1 and PC2 are not the similar.
PC3 and PC4 are similar.
I've tried on-board ports, USB-COM ports, PCI-COM ports.
Configuration is the same, all standard.

In your code, are you wiring the error cluster throughout?  If so, can you probe the wires and determine where the error is first triggered.  Then try to capture the values / settings near that code and compare it with the code running on the other PC's.

You are running the same (copied / identical ) version of the code on all machines, right?

Did you check the hardware configuration in the Device Manager within Systems (Windows)?  Are they configured the same?

I suspect that it is related to configuration..  something is not setup the same.

Also, can you post the code or a screen capture of the code in the area where the error is generated?

Hello

PC3 & PC4 is almost 100% the same.
The code is very simple, it's just the property node "break state" and controls.
Finding the error trigger wasen't hard. I've tried with another property node "break length", the result is just the same.

PC2:
LV: 7.0
MAX: ?
Visa: 3.0

PC3 & PC 4:
LV: 7.0
MAX: 3.1
Visa: 3.0

SOFTWARE UPDATED on PC3 & PC4.
PC3 & PC 4:

This software update solved the problem. It woud seem be be a bug in VISA but only on some PC's.

Thanks any way!

I'm glad you were able to solve the problem.

There still seems to be a bit of mystery as to its source..

Thanks for sharing 🙂
