Bug in Simulate Arb. Signal LV8.6.1

I was experimenting with the  Simulate Arbitrary signal express VI in LV 8.6.1 when trying to answer this forum post. http://forums.ni.com/ni/board/message?board.id=170&thread.id=401492

The first Express dialog box opened up.  I hit the button to Define Signal.  The next dialog box came up.  I hit the button to Load Data and if I selected a valid .lvm file, everything loaded fine.

However if I cancelled out of the 2nd dialog box without selecting a file, LV said unable to Load,  (OK fine) then went back  to the second dialog box and hung up there for a very long time.  Clicking OK, cancel, Help, just seemed to light up the buttons and go nowhere.  The first time it happend, I used task manager to kill LV.  When I tried to duplicate later, I found it did eventually clear the dialog box once I waited long enough and go back to the first Express dialog box.  But overall, the dialog box behavior was erratic and very delayed.

Steps to duplicate.

1.  Put in Simulate Arbitrary Signal Express VI.

2.  In first dialog box, click define signal.

3.  In second dialog box, click Load Data.

4.  In the Load Data Dialog box, click Cancel.

5.  Click OK when Unable to Load message comes up.  Screen goes back to Define Signal dialog box.

6.  Click OK, or cancel, or help, or load data.  All seems to hang leaving multiple buttons lit up.

7.  Wait long enough, something might happen.  I might to back to the first dialog box "Configure Signal"

8.   Hit Define Signal button again.  Define Signal box should pop up again.  I found the Load Button might still be pressed.

9.  Behavior seems to be similar to step 6.

10.  Wait long enough (on the order of 30 seconeds to minutes) things might happen.

Does anyone else see this erratic behavior?

Another question -- is it only on LV 8.6.1?

I tried it on 8.2.1 and did not observe any problems.

I only have LV 8.6.1 at home.  I'll have to try some other versions when I'm at work tomorrow.

One other questions is whether it is affected by the number of samples showing up in the signal data list.  I had 1000 samples imported because I was trying to test whether I could import more than 100 samples (the original poster's issue).  I wouldn't consider 1000 samples a lot, but the more samples present might make the dialog box take longer to do some interpolation of the data that it places on the preview graph.

Raven,

I used 5001 points on 8.2.1.  Still no problem.

Hey Raven,

I tried to replicate this on both 8.6.1 and 8.6 and did not see the problem. I was planning on just filing a Corrective Action Request for you, but like I said, I can't replicate it.

I even tried on a few different machines to no avail. If anyone else can replicate this, please let me know exact version numbers and behavior.
