CFG mode on pre v2.0 NI Instrument Simulator

I have an NI Instrument Simulator (older than the version 2 referenced in the manuals) that does not have a CFG switch.  Is there another way to put this device into configuration mode?  When I attempt to connect to the device with the NI Instrument Simulator Wizard software, it gives me an 'Error Locating the NI Instrument Simulator' dialog box.

Thanks for the post! I noticed you had received any support yet.

What version are you using? I have found a manual which doesn't seem have a switch labelled CFG switch, here is the link. 

I have also read some advice for a previous service request, which suggested:

"right click on the GPIB board in MAX and select "Scan for Instruments". This should then do a scan for instruments and the Device Simulator should show up as the first instrument, and it should have a primary address of 2. As far as the sequentially verified error, what version of NI-488.2 are you using? You could try upgrading if its an option? Or could you try reinstalling it to see if that clears it up?"
