Calibrating Force Transducer KAF

Hi Friends

attached is a program to calibrate a force transducer KAF(max. excitation voltage 20V, nominal load 20kN) with signal conditioning Modul 5B38 and mounting card 5B04. am using messcard M6221 and LV 8.0.if i run the with max/min 20V/-20V i get an error message  saying  it is not support by the daqmx, that i should change to max/min 10V/-10V.  with 10V/-10V  daqmx  configuration  there is no error however the result is not plausible. so could someone help to figure out where i went wrong or any suggestion how i can with what i have to correctly calibrate the force transducer. i did a similar job before Xmas for pressure transducer and that worked well.

thanks in advance

Hello anyasodor,

the reason why you can´t chose +-20V as min/max value for your measurement is, that the 6221 M-Series card you mentioned above is just specified for +-10V. For a better understanding I attached the detailed specifications of the card. On our homepage (https://www.ni.com/en-us/shop/model/pci-6221.html) you will find a lot of informations using the M-series board.

Hello Jan,
vielen Dank für your reply! attached is  my Kraftmessdose VI with little changes.my question now is why cann't  i get a plausibe reading from  the  force sensor with the hardware and software arrangement given in the first posting. the programm runs error free ,however the result is not plausible because it reaches the max 10V at once even without force applied and does not change proportional to the applied force, when force is then applied. please any suggestion from you or someone else will be highly appreciated. as i said earlier i just calibrated a pressure transducer with similar program and the result  tallied with the manufacturers factor. so why not here too?

thanks all again

Hello anyasodor,

first of all I would try to get the signal in MAX. Use there the Testpanel to display your signal. If you choose the right values for Sample rate and min max and so on you will get the unfiltered signal from your sensor. Not until you get the right signal in MAX I would transport these values to LV.

Please check your hardware. Did you use any amplifier for your signal? Is it possible that you have some "ground-problems"? Did you use shielded cables? There are a lot of possibilities for a bad signal.

Please let me know if something changes.
