Hello All,
Can I read the direction on an encoder (Quadrature) using NI 9361 and compact daq?
How can this be achieved? All of the quadrature examples refer to cRio with FPGA.
Thanks!

Hi Gil,
I read quadrature encoders on FPGA only but I believe the basic idea would be the same. Which would be, identifying which edge, A or B transitioned first. Say A transitioned before B it is clockwise and B transitioning before A would mean counter clockwise.
If you have a manual, it should say something like: Leading Edge A- Clockwise direction.
EDIT: I am assuming that you are already reading the quadrature encoder and are just having issue with telling which direction it is should count up or down.

The NI-9361 datasheet gives you the basic theory on how to accomplish this.
