Can I use an Event Structure to process an input signal from a DIO (6534). Without having to Poll the 6534?

Thanks for ur reply, the recommended article was a good peice of information. I have one more question, as  mentioned in the article the use of "devisimulated property"done in my case ie. while simulating the pxi 6225 device gave the result as is simulated for 1st port ie firs 8 dio lines and not simulated for the next two ports. is this true or the trigger is not at all supported for any device. I am using daqmx 8.6 .

To clear things a little bit I want to re-iterate that triggers are not supported for any "simulated devices", you might already know but my previous statment does not include real devices.
