Can LabVIEW control an external serial (RS232) device via a USB port on a Mac?

Since Lynns' reply #8  "If the device only shows up as USB Raw, it probably means that no driver was installed." told you to try to install the driver, you should mark his reply as the solution and unmark your message.  Perhaps even give him some Kudo's.

Hello Everyone,

I have a NI USB-232/4 adapter box.  Its PN is 187660C-11, Rev: 2.1.  I run LabView on a MacBook Pro with Mac OS 10.6.3.  When I plugged in the adaptor box to my Mac, I didn't see anything from my System Profiler.  At the NI site on the product (http://sine.ni.com/nips/cds/view/p/lang/en/nid/14583), it says that the adaptor works only on Window OS.  Is there any trick to get the Mac to recognize the adapter?

Thanks in advance.

Fang

Hi Fang,

There are no drivers written for this device for a Mac. You would have to write your own drivers to get this work. The easiest thing to do would be to run your Mac in Parallels or Bootcamp with Windows Vista or earlier. There is no other native way of using this device with Mac OS X.

Take care!
