Can a PXI realtime controller exchange data with Wonderware

I am looking for a way to get data from a PXI system using WONDERWARE. Preferably in the traditional OPC Server structure. Can it be done thru DAQ OPC and if DAQ OPC works would that only give access to the Harware IO data or could I access other data points not associated directly with the hardware IOs. Maybe Datasocket could be used in some way or LabVIEW as an OPC Server, but that would not be the slickest solution.

Thank you for contacting National Instruments. If the PXI controller is running Windows (not Real-time), you can simply use DAQ OPC for this operation. You just need to create a virtual channel in MAX, then the data will be published by the National Instrument DAQ OPC server, so any OPC client can access it.

But to be able to pass data from a PXI RT controller (running in RT mode) to Wonderware, you need to have the LabVIEW DSC (Datalogging and Supervisory Control) add-on module.

Here are the basic steps to do this:
- Pass the data from RT controller to the host PC using TCP VIs. Note that the RT communication wizard can automatically generate the VIs for this operation, please refer to the link below for more information

- Create a memory tag in the Tag configuration editor (this is a tool that is available with LabVIEW DSC)

- Use " Write Tag.VI" to pass the data from host PC to the Tag Engine which publishes the data to the any OPC client.

- Use any available OPC Server Explorer (sometimes called OPC client browser) to access the data.

I hope this helps. Please let me know if there is anything I can help with or clarify.
