Can cursor labels be locked?

I would like the cursor to behave as they did in LV7.1 where you could not move the text away from the cursor. Is there a way to disable this feature?

The only way I could find to get it to stop letting you do that is to turn off the ability to drag the cursor with the mouse. Which is probably not what you want.
