Can not see USb device

The driver is installed in windows and the OEM software has not problem seeing the device. LAbview or MAX does not see the USB port. I did the usb posted help on the websight, but I still can not see the device. How Can I make labview/MAX see the usb port/device.

What sort of device ist it? If it is any standard USB device, VISA can
only see it as raw device if there is NO other driver in the OS
installed for it. If it is a serial to USB converter or something you
need to make sure Windows Control Panel sees it as a serial port before
it will be available in VISA as serial device.

The device is an Agilent 5529A. A Distance measuring interferometer. It took the old ISA boads from the old pc and allowed me to get a new pc (no isa slots) and plug this usb box in to get my data on the new pc.

As rolfk said, VISA and MAX will only see the device if it is assigned to the VISA driver. That means you can't install the instruments driver if you want to use VISA as the driver. A device can only be assigned to one at a time. Typically, if your device comes with a driver then you just need to use the driver and make calls with it in LabVIEW through the Call Library Function Node. If you want to use NI-VISA the first thing you have to do is uninstall the driver that the device is currently attached to. Make sure you do not have Agilent VISA installed, because if its driver grabs the device first, then NI-VISA will never see it. I would check to see what driver is currently attached to the device in the Windows Device Manager. Once NI-VISA recogniz
es the device in the Windows Device Manager, then you can use USBTMC or USB RAW to communicate to the instrument. This may sould like a lot of work, but it is just how windows operates.

Same as plugin USB keyboard,USB mouse
How to use NI-VISA recognizes the device in the Windows Device Manager, then use USBTMC or USB RAW to communicate to it.
