Can't Include "Web Service" in project - LabVIEW 2012

Hi,

I'm trying to learn about LabVIEW Web Service. when I create a project and try to create a new web service by right-clicking on My Computer > New > Web Service, I don't see the Web Service option on the menu. Do I need to install something? Or is it not available for 2012? I'd appreciate any information about this issue.

Thanks,

Hootan

I'm pretty sure that LabVIEW 2012 supports Web Service.  Some things to check:

  • Help/Find Examples/Networking/LV Web Services.  Can you see these Examples?  Can you load them without a broken Run Arrow?  Can you run them?
  • Tools/Options/Web Services.  Does this option exist?  Can you do anything there?
  • Is there a "www" folder in C:\Program Files (x86)\National Instruments\LabVIEW 2012?  [I'm assuming you are running 32-bit LabVIEW on 64-bit Windows -- if running 32-bit Windows, look in C:\Program Files].

Hi Bob,

Thanks for the detailed and quick reply. Under Help/Find Examples/Networking I don't have the LV Web Services folder. however, there was a "webservices" folder under "comm" when I am in directory mode in Example Finder. Is this the same thing?

I can run the examples without error. By looking at examples, I realized I can make a web service by Right-Clicking Build Specification> New> Web Service.

In Tools/Options/webServer exist and I can Configure Web Server. Also, the www folder exists in the Labview directory.

Thanks a lot for the support
