Can't find the shared library nilvaiu.dll and nican.dll.

Solved!

I am using Labview 8.5.1 on a windows XP 32 bit system. Recently I installed labview on a 64 bit XP system.  I'm experiencing what I think is drivers issues on the the 64 bit system, now. When the executables are ran the files are not found: nilvaiu.dll and nican.dll.  Anyone experienced these errors and now where to find the most up to date 64 bit drivers?

nilvaiu.dll is part of DAQmx. As far as I know, the current version of the driver does not support XP 64-bit.

nican.dll is (obviously) part of NI-CAN. The current version of the driver does not support XP 64-bit.

I was talking to an NI App Engineer on the phone the other week and was basically told that XP x64 is not supported at all under LabVIEW (or its toolkits) - for 64 bit you need to use Vista or 7.

That was my suspicion. After reading this  about NI-VISA 4.3 and NI-VISA 4.0. i decided to continue to investigate, with hopes to find an older driver app that supports XP 64, since updating the OS to vista or 7 is not an option since the company controls this asset.

Well, the list of drivers that are supported for XP 64-bit is quite short. And while NI-VISA may be, DAQmx and NI-CAN aren't on that list, unfortunately.

...Especially to muks who posted these links to another thread that I could relate to.  The author's frustration is vividly Portrayed in text.  My favorite line in this was "So this morning I have downloaded and am in the process of installing 1.5 GIGABYTES of various NI drivers in an attempt to get my 327K application to run."  ....hilariousSmiley Very Happy
