Can't get 'Shared Varaible Engine' to Start.

Used on a system that worked on Windows XP. Now have PC replaced to a Win7 laptop.

Updated to NI Distributed System Manager 2013. When I run this and do 'Actions/Start Local Shared Variable Engine' I get no complaints but when I check the Service window the service is listed as not started. If I try and start it from the services window I get an error dialog box

"Error 1075:The dependency service does not exist or has been marked for deletion"

I have installed NI Variable Engine 2.6.0[2.6.296.0].

I have uninstalled and re-installed many times with no luck.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Hey Alessgg,

Are the services "NI Configuration Manager" and "NI PSP Service Locator" installed and started before you attempt to start the NI Variable Engine? The NI Variable Engine is dependent on those two services.

Hi Ian_K

"NI PSP Service Locator" is listed and started but "NI Configuration Manager" is not listed at all as a service. I did the install. Why is this not installed.

Thanks for the tip.

How do I  get this installed and started?

Thanks

George

Hey Alessgg,

"NI Configuration Manager" is installed with Measurement & Automation Explorer (MAX). What's odd is that MAX is installed with all National Instruments Software. It's possible that the installation was corrupted at some point. I would recommend downloading and reinstalling MAX 5.5 (assuming you are using LabVIEW 2010 or newer).
