At what point did you stop using MAX? Entering a \r in MAX does send the control code.

I just want to say that I hope you aren't confusing a \r slash code which is the way a carriage return shows up in \codes display, with a \ r which is 2 characters of a \ and an r that would appear in normal display for a string.
