Cannot read from USB 6008

johnsold:

I think what you mentioned is the problem with USB6008. I used this computer (c1) with PCI6034E, it worked fine. In c1 I have DAQmx base 1.4, and earlier version of DAQmx. But I need to use USB6008 in another computer (c2) where I installed DAQmx 8.7.1. The USB6008 worked fine in c2. But now when I connected the USB6008 back to the c1, the USB6008 cannot work anymore. To make things "worse", I installed DAQ8.7.1 in this c1. I guess the USB DAQ is confused. Do you know a way that can solve this problem? Thanks,

bj

There are a couple of KB articles dealing with loading the correct firmware on the 6008. See if this or this one help.

Problem is solved. It turned out that I need to update driver of USB6008 in device manager, like in the article Dennis suggested. The USB 6008 was initially under NI-VISA directory. After updating the driver, it appeared in NI-DAQ directory. So now I ran "Construct Task.vi" and found the USB6008 is now "Dev2". Thank you for all your help.

You will need to change the firmware every time you switch using the device between DAQmx and DAQmx Base. If all the computers which will be using the device have Windows OS, then you should probably stick with DAQmx.
