Capability of using multiple external triggers on the NI - USB 6289 DAQ

Hello,

Can you please indicate if the NI USB - 6289 DAQ has the capability of utilizing multiple external triggers simultaneously to acquire data? The manual does not specify. We will be using the 15 PFI pins on the DAQ. Thank you.

  Best,

You cannot use different triggers on channels of the same type. For instance, if you wanted to trigger four digital lines off of four different external triggers, this is not possible. What you can do however, is trigger channels of different type (such as Analog Input and Analog Output set up in seperate tasks) to trigger off of different sources. I hope that answers your question.

If you are looking for a way to trigger one task from multiple digital sources, the best method would be to use an external logical OR circuit and connect the output of this to your trigger line.

Hello,

Thank you all for your replies. We have decided to use one of the PFI pins as an external "primary trigger", and another PFI pin as a "reference trigger". This should give us the functionality that we need, hopefully.

 Best,

Sami
