The M Series devices do have the ability to perform digital change detection, but the NI-DAQ driver is not yet up to par with the hardware. If you open the M Series Help Manual (which I've linked to
here for your convenience) and open the Digital I/O section and browse to the DI Change Detection help, you'll see the first sentence stating that change detection is not yet supported in NI-DAQ 7.3.
The reason that Change Detection is even an option in the Sample Clock or DAQ Assistant VIs is because they do not have the capability of filtering out parameters that aren't supported for a certain board.
