Change X axis of a chart

Hi,

Is there a way to change the X axis of a chart to a user defined variable. I want the chart to be updated in real time showing the time interval between the two sucessive points on the X axis ? Any suggestions.

Thanks

Look at the shipping examples. There's on called Real Time Chart that shows how you do this.

A chart only holds the Y value for each point and calculates the X value based on an offset and a multiplier (the difference in seconds between each 2 points). If the difference in time between each 2 points is constant, you can create a property node for the chart (In the Application Control palette), wire the start time (as a DBL) into the Offset property and the multiplier into that property. Then, right click the chart, select Format & Precision and select Absolute Time.

If the difference is subject to change, here is a VI that goes along the lines of the example Dennis mentioned.

Has an llb in whichyou will find a VI called Beer Monitor2. Youwill have to download the llb.

It show you how to use a waveform data type to get a chart to to do non periodic updates.
