Citadel Database Size & Lifespan

Hi,

I am using the citadel database to log data only (no alarms and events). I set the lifespan to 9 days. The lifespan property appears in the properties of the traces and I can view data in MAX and in my program only as far back as 9 days - which is what I want. The problem is that when I check the folder in Windows explorer - d:\ .. \data - it seems that old files don't get deleted or replaced. Looking at the "Date last modified column" there are dates and times from when I started logging (about 30 days ago) at constant intervals up until the current data and time. I checked the folder two days ago and again today and it had grown in size. I am wondering if the lifespan property is supposed to take care of this issue. Articles in the knowledge base state not to delete data manually from the citadel database so I am also wondering how to keep the size of the folder to approximately 9 days worth of data if the lifespan property does not delete old/unused files.

Thanks,

Taylor

Hi Taylor,

The behavior you are seeing may be explained by this article.  Head to the Trace Properties section and look for the description of lifespan.  This article shows you how to manually delete data from a database, FYI.  Also, what version of LabVIEW/DSC Module are you using?
