Cluster Constant as Icon to represent type

Is there a way to represent a strict type def instance (as needed by "bundle by name" to determine type) as a small icon?  The actual values of the constant are not needed, just the structure of the cluster.

Hi Steven,
first, it´s not necessary to create a type def of a cluster to use the bundle by name function. You just need a cluster in which all elements have names. Smiley Happy
second, what do you mean with "to represent ... as a small icon"? What do you try to do? Can you explain, please?

I offered a number of tips for use with Type-defs in this Nugget.  I will often wrap the type def in a sub-VI

Please see that Nugget for more words on this subject.

Steven,

One way of doing that is to create a VI with only the cluster (as indicator). Make the values you want as default. Connect it to one of the terminals on the connector pane. Then edit the icon to be the same size as that terminal.

Result: Very small cluster footprint on the diagram.

This was suggested somewhere on the Forum a year ago. I did not search out the original reference so I cannot give proper credit to the originator of the idea.

Another option that I often use is to place the cluster constant inside a single-frame sequence structure.  Turn Auto-Grow off for the structure and resize it as small as you like.  This isn't as elegant as the subVI solution, but it is simpler to implement.

Hi Chris,

Am I correct in assuming that your code is NOT subject to review by the VIAnalyzer?
