Announcing the coding challenge: Write a program that will invert a pendulum attached to a cart and keep it inverted.
Rules and details are on the Control and Simulation forum in the community forum: http://decibel.ni.com/content/message/17022
The grand prize is a sbRIO evaluation kit worth $1000 or more!
This is a great opportunity to learn a little more about controls and try out the Control Design and Simulation module.
All entries are due the Sunday before NI Week.

Thank you for organizing this new challenge Bruce!
I am going to try to get some of my co-workers to give this a go since these Challenges are too few and far between to let the oppertunity pass.

HEY! I did this for a lab in college, only we used Matlab. Had all the EOM and everything. If only I didn't throw it all out when the semester ended...
It's things like the ability to do this that make dynamics and controls so interesting.

Then are you in or out?
I'm curious because I got a commitment from Mellobuck this morning that he will be the other part of "Team DSA" (yes I am the other half).
I'm looking at it this way:
A) I have always learned alot from everyone of the LabVIEW Challenges to date and i am looking forward to another "bump in my LV knowlege".
B) If nobody else submits an entry, we will give the prize a good home.
C) It give all of the other contributors a chance to go head-on-head with a Knight of NI and possibly feed me some humble pie. (Not if I have something to say about it).
So concider my gaunlet as cast into the ring.

Well, I have another idea: ALL participants will join to "Team DSA", then the challenge will finished with same result 😉

Hmmm....
Do I have it in me to bea able to be on two teams without conflicts.... ?
I let that question slide for the time being. There is a question regarding if Team DSA will be allowed to compete (awaiting approval from management).
I'm hoping since I have an old tooth-pick and tissue paper (balsa wood) Stearman model air plane that I kit bashed to turn into a bat-plane that would tolerate some autonomous control.

Yes, it is way off subject. I would suggest starting a new post if you are looking for code. This thread is for the current challenge.
