I can connect to my compact rio locally and have be trying to establish a connection over the network
the issue is that I have one DIO module connected to the device and cannot see it in Measurement and auotmation
do I need to be Log In to the device to get access - I have never submitted access codes for username and password so if permissions are preventing me from getting access I need to login in - how can i log on to the 9074
Is Log In dependent on you access on the network
any help appreciated or links to relevant information

Hi,
Setting up the Crio-9074 through ethernet network involves a few things. Are you using a local router that you can control or is this a school/workplace network?
You will need to assign the CRIO-9074 an IP address. Which will get assigned dynamically initially assuming your network can assign dynamic IP addresses. If your network is set up this way, then you should see the CRIO under REMOTE systems in MAX. and you should be able to see the DIO module as well. Also, in your project window, you will have to add the CRIO target to the project as a remote real-time system, (rather than to My Computer). i.e. right click Project --> add new target, NOT right click on My Computer--> add new target.
I hope this helps.

Hi M
A few pointers when connecting a CRIO to a network; use a strait through cable rather than a cross over cable.
Be careful of IP address conflicts.
With CRIO when you can see the device in Max you will still not be able to see the c series modules which are plugged in. The modules can be viewed in labVIEW when a project is made and under the FPGA target.
Using the find IP address function and IP reset make finding a free IP address much easier. Once a free IP address is found if the device is to be used on the network permanently then defining a static IP address is beneficial as it can be easily found in the future.
Below are a number of links to pages on the NI.com website that deal with CRIO connectivity witch you may find useful.
