CompactRIO connectivity problems with a crossover cable

Recently, after reformatting and installing the software on a CompactRIO system, we started to have connectivity problems. Consistantly, when LabVIEW starts, while it is loading, Windows loses connection and regains connection to the CRIO twice. Then its fine for a while, but randomly disconnects later on.

We never had these problems until we formatted and installed the software.

Solutions tried:
* change the crossover cable
* played with the duplex settings on both the windows machine and the CRIO to match

Any suggestions for a solution would be appreciated.

Hi Nnayfeh,

Does windows lose connection on crossover cable consistently and how are you monitoring this? Does the problem persist even when you dont have your application running? you could also try to setup a small network with just a switch, two computers and the c-RIO system and see if you can ping the c-RIO when your other computer loses connection. This will tell us if the controller is holding on to the IP and if the problem is more likely to be on the host side or the target side. I would also try to eliminate any host ethernet card problems as well. You can also connect a monitor to the RT controller to see if it boots up fine and what happens when your host loses connection?(turn on the serial redirect dip switch)

I would also check to see if you revert back to the older version of the software does the problem persist. What software versions are installed on your system?

Regards,
Prashanth
