Connecting computer with myRIO over wifi

Hey guys,

my goal is to send data from a myRIO to a host PC via wifi. The network is provided by the myRIO.

What I have already done:

The red light from the myRIO wifi is on continously and I find the myrio wifi with my computer. But when I want to connect my PC with the myRIO something is going wrong as there is a small yellow exclamation mark in my taskbar.

I can see that my PC is trying to identify the network (red light is blinking), but after some time it says "cant identify network" (red light is on continously again) and that i dont have full access to the network.

When I try to connect my myRIO in my LabVIEW project with the wifi IP it just says, that it is "unable to resolve from current dialog".

In MAX it says the myRIO has "inconsistent IP-properties".

Does anyone have an idea what I could do?

kind regards

Are you connecting the myRIO directly to the PC over WiFi? Or are you connecting both to a router?

I don't have a myRIO handy, but I think you need to change your computer's IP settings once connected so that it is in the same IP address range / subnet. What does it say on the IP settings for the myRIO?

You should post a screenshot of the network configuration of the myRIO from MAX and also your windows IP settings for the wireless connection.

First: The myrio is the host of the network and the computer is directly connected to the myrio.

Second: I am now at home and here I can ping the myrio without any problems with laptop..further tests not possible as my laptop has no LV installed.

Third: I already checked the IP-Address of the myrio for WIFI: 172.16.0.X . The IP of my computer for this connection sometimes has 172.16.X.X but changes without warning to 162.19.X.X so I think you are right, that this could be the point. At work (university) there is a pretty "strong" wifi which seems to be overwritting the IP of my computer. I am not sure how to solve this.

@natasftw: I read the article but I think it wont solve the problem which I localized in the IP setting of my computer.

Any hints or ideas how to get rid of the "overwriting" issue?

kind regards
