You lose some resolution, but with 256 Qantas it should be way enough; especially if you do a PID control loop.

I haven't used that regulator, but I find it's simple to use a digital pressure regulator that has a serial port for receiving commands. I've used the Marsh Bellofram 3410 series in a number of projects, and all it takes to interface with the PC is an inexpensive USB - RS-485 adapter cable.
