Converting Formula from labview to excel.

Good Afternoon,

I am trying to convert a formula we are using in Labview so i can use it also in Excel.

The equation from labview im trying to convert to excel format is: ((1/298)+((1/4300)*ln(V/(5-V))))**(-1)-273

This is used to convert a voltage signal (via a thermister) into temperature at degrees C.

I am recording the voltage from the DAQ and saving it to an excel file therefore i need to convert the excel voltage recordings to temperature in degrees C as well.

Could any one please write the above formula in an excel format, more specifically i'm struggling to convert the '**' and 'ln'.

Any help would be much appreciated.

Regards,

Adam

I am shocked that in this day and age, someone who is learning LabVIEW doesn't know about Excel, the Ribbon (or Help), and Formulas.  Open Excel, find the Formulas tab, and ask what kind of function you need.  Sounds like Math, right?  Click "Math and Trig".  Do you see anything called "Ln"?  Scroll.  Do you know what "**" means?  Do you see a five-letter word in the Formula list that means the same thing?

Thanks Bob appreciate the help, not to sure there is any need for the patronising tone though. I don't use LabVIEW at all this is the first time I have seen it as part of this college project. I work on the design of HV systems for wind farms and other projects for a job not program DAQ's so just the advice next time please you can only know what you know.

Hi GerdW,

I have briefly heard of that at the beginning of the year in college someone did mention it. Really appreciated the help there.

Best Regards,

... and, since you say you don't know Excel, the formula for the mathematically-simplified version of your equation, in Excel, would be

=(1/((1/298)+(1/4300)*ln(V/(5-v))))-273
