Converting LV 6.1 VIs to LV 9.0.1

Solved!
Go to solution

Hi All,

I just went back to work for an old employer, and it turns out they still have all my old VIs on the server, from 2006 and earlier.  These were all written in LabVIEW 5-6.1.  However, now that I am using LV2009, I cannot open any of my old programs with my new software.

We still have a valid license for 6.1, and I have one machine loaded with 6.1, but I sure would like to access my old programs with LV2009.  Is there any way to convert/modify my old VIs to make that happen?

Thanks,

Forbes Black

Hi Forbes,

have you seen this link to a thread named "upconvert requests" in the announcement section of the forum (just on top of the page)?

Btw. LV9 opens VIs starting from version 6.0 according to help, so you only need to convert the VIs from LV5 and earlier to LV6.1 to open them with LV9!

(Create a backup before converting...)

Woohoo!  When my first attempt to open a program did not work, I assumed none of them would work, but it seems as though all my 6.X programs DO work after all.  And I can convert all my old 5.X programs using my PC with 6.1 loaded.  Anyone know a way I can load 6.1 and 9 on the same computer?

Thanks,

Forbes

Hi Forbes,

you can install more than one LV version on the same computer. Never had problems with it... (Atleast not when installing in correct order from older to newer version!)
