Crash of LV 8.2 when I close a property window

Hi,

When I leave the property window of a command, I have systematically a crash of LV.
I think this bug has to be already known but I did not found a discussion about it.
Do you have a work around for this bug?

NB: I use the French version of LV 8.2
Thanks for your help,
Bertrand

Hello,
Yes Bertrand it's a known bug that appears with some LV 8.2 regionalized versions combined with some builds of Windows XP.
This bug will be corrected in a future version of LV.
Cordially,

Hello,

Thank you for your answer.
When do you plan the LV 8.2.1 patch? This bug is blocking for my development. If the patch is only planned in several weeks, I am asking if it would be better to change the french version I ordered by an english version where this problem does not appear.

Hello Bertrand,

I apologize that you are experiencing one of our known issues.  I’m not too sure where Pierre got the information that “[t]his bug is corrected in LabVIEW 8.2.1 patch which we will release soon”.  We haven’t released any information on whether we will release anything for LabVIEW 8.2, and we certainly haven’t given any sort of time-line for that.  If you are interested in learning about our software updates, be sure to visit our drivers and updates page.

With regards to the issue you are experiencing, I am interested in finding a workaround for you to use so that you do not experience this crash.  Pierre, please provide the CAR number you are referring to so that others tracking this issue can more easily research the issue.  Are you referring to CAR 42J25NQK?  One customer that experienced this crash was able to resolve the error by placing more controls/indicators on the front panel, and then manipulating the properties through the dialog box.  Another customer reports that programmatically writing the properties through property nodes seems to work just fine.  Do either of these potential workaround resolve your crash?

Thanks for posting your question to the NI discussion forums.  Have a great evening-

Hello Travis,

I succeeded in finding a workaround thanks your advice. In fact instead of opening the property window directly, I use the other contextual menus ( right-click on the command) proposed above the property menu. All properties are not directly available, but in my case it is sufficient.

Bertrand

Travis,

In fact, I was wrong. Yesterday, I succeeded to access to the property menu without crashing LV, but today even the other contextual menus which call the property window crash. I think the workaround has not to be easily reproductible.
I try the workarounds you proposed but they don't solve the problem in my LV version.
So, I am still blocking in my development.

Bertrand

Bertrand,
Sorry for the late response, but I was out of office in the end of the last Week.
It would be easier for NI if you could contact our office directly at the following phone number : 01.48.14.24.24
Moreover, are you able to try your LV 8.2 FR with another computer ?
Regards,
