I'm liking this solution. With a little more refinement to the hourglass image (copied into the background of the tank control, you could even get the streaming effect. You can also make the slider fills images, but these SCALE as the slider value changes, which might look weird... or could be perfect.

I got interrupted before posting so others have suggested this - a tank behind decorations.

Here's ,my last shot. looking pretty good. it would be great if it were possible to set fill images on the tank control at run time, or move rather than scale the fill images. I don't know. But still, this isn't bad!

This is the solution i am looking for. You are right on target. I am able to (version converted to LabVIEW 2010) open hourglass2.vi. But i wish to see the hourglass3.vi. It says that "hour glass demo.ctl' is missing. Could you please downconvert hourglass3.vi to LabVIEW 2010.
