DAQ for resistances

Hello gents. Can someone guide me on choosing if available device that allows me to measure multiple resistances at the same time and record these resistances on labVIEW executable file please. Thank you.

What's your budget? How many channels do you need? Do you want a stand alone instrument or an actual DAQ device that need to be attached to as computer to work?

I have 16 channels and need to connect them to actual DAQ device. I need to build that in a modest price.

What is the range of resistance to measure and with what accuracy?

Best option is to get a DMM along with multiplexer.

You really need to learn to write down ALL your requirements!

  • What is the expected range of resistance you want to measure?
  • Required accuracy?
  • Speed of measurement?

One more suggestion:

When you want to measure 16 channels in parallel then NI will have DAQ hardware that supports 16 AI channels without MUX (simultanous sampling). See the documentation for USB-64xx devices.

Such devices most often only measure voltage signals. Can you setup your measurement

  • using voltage dividers (for resistors within a smaller range)?
  • using a current sources for each resistor to measure (there are ICs available for such tasks)?

Again: write down ALL the requirements to get more specific suggestions!

Best regards,
GerdW

Thanks Santo for your reply. The resistances would be between 100 ohms to 5K ohms and the accuracy would be on average, do need to high accuracy.
