DI Group Config error only in compiled application?

Greetings! Searched the newsgroup but couldn't find any answers to this
problem...

I have a rather large (7+ MB, 200 VIs, large compared to what I'm used to)
VI which I am compiling using the Application Builder under LV5.1.1. There
is an initialization routine near the beginning of the program where virtual
channels are designated into groups with the Digital Group Config VI. The
channel names are defined in the Measurement & Automation Explorer.

In the LabView editor, the whole system runs fine. But when I compile it
into the .exe, the first Group Config returns a -10240 error (NoDriver). If
I build a smaller application which calls ONLY this initialization routine
and nothing else, everything w
orks fine. Because of that, it seems to me
that the problem might somehow be related to the size of the larger program,
but I can't figure out how or why!

I would be very grateful for any advice on how to proceed tackling this
problem.
Thank you very much!

P.S. I feel that I should mention I'm also using an external DLL to drive a
motion control card, but that does not appear to be related to this problem.
The computer in question is running NT4.0 with only 64 MB of RAM, although
virtual memory is set around 200 MB.
