DIO96 vi's and DAQmx

I have an old vi that used a DIO96 card, "DIO port read.vi" and "DIO port write.vi".  I've since upgraded to labview 8.2 and my DIO card is now a PCI-6509.  It seems that the DIO port read.vi and DIO port write.vi are not part of DAQmx, and there seems to be no equivalents.  How can I get my vi to work without having to rewrite a good portion of my code?

Hello,

As you can see in the picture, Daqmx can do the same function that you'de. But here it's called "daqmx read.vi" .
See the attached image.

It's simple if you create a task and then use this vi.

Hi Shawn,

I agree with Jorge in using the DAQmx read function for your application. The DIO port read and DIO port write in your old VI are found in the traditional NI-DAQ driver. However, the PCI-6509 is only compatible with DAQmx. This means that you cannot use your old VI as is, you will have to use DAQmx functions.  Here are some links which can help you get started.

Hi Jorge,

Would you please re-post the example?  For some reason, I can't see the pictures...

Hi Jorge,

Not a bad question at all, it took me a bit to figure it out. You attach the file as you have already done and submit the post. Right after you submit it, you can edit the post and use the Insert an Image function from the toolbar. The link you need can be copied from the attachment.

Hope that helps,
Kent
