Start>Programs>National Instruments>NI-DAQ>NI-DAQ Help contains all of the functions contained in nidaq.dll and you can also find the functions listed by hardware product. Howver, since the low level VIs such as Digital Buffer Read already call the DLL directly, I don't see the point of recreating the wheel. Even if you're using the higher level VIs, there's not a lot of overhead involved.
