Daqmx Configure Logging with Time Stamp

 Hi All,

I was wondering if it is possible to use Daqmx Configure Logging to log both data, and a row of the exact time (not a relative one), or at least add the FIRST time and date to the information?

Thanks,

Lester

The start time is part of the properties in the tdms file so I don't understand what else you are asking for. Look at the example called TDMS Logging.

Hi Dennis,

Yeah, sorry I  missed seeing that start time is part of the properties, I can see it now when I open the file in excel. I also looked at an example called "Read Groups Channels (tdms).vi " or something like that.  However, I can never get the "get properties" vi to return the start time.  All I even get returned is an array with the name of the file.  I tried connecting a time stamp constant to the data types, but I get an error saying to wire another terminal, but it doesn't specify which.  Any ideas how I can get the start time returned to me?

Thanks,

Lester

Hi,

I got it to work, I just forgot to put in the "Group Name" and "Channel Name" which is necessary to get the properties, I wasn't aware of that.  The info can be seen at http://zone.ni.com/devzone/cda/tut/p/id/3539 .

I got the time stamp now, but the resolution is only to seconds.  I tried using the "Format Date/Time String" vi to format the resolution to milliseconds, but that doesn't seem to work because all the decimals after the seconds is just ".000000".  Does TDMS always start at .000 seconds, or does it just not go down to that resolution of timing?

Thanks for your help,

Lester
