Daqmx assistant cannot wire output

Solved!
Go to solution

I haven't fired up labview in about two months and no have a strange problem. I am trying to setup a new module to acquire thermocouple and RTD inputs. It is a 9213 chassis. When I place the DAQ assitant down and setup the signals in the wizard I never get the "data" stream on my icon. This is the part where you wire it to get the data out. I am sure I am missing something brutally simple but I can't figure it out.

Icemaker,

This very thing happened to me last friday. I was trying to answer somebodys post here and went to use the DAQ assistant. I don't use the express vis because I find them restrictive. I played and played until I finally figured out that when configuring the assistant you must click the 'ok' button on the bottom of the DAQ configuration wizard. In my case this was hidden below my screen. When I moved the window up I found it.

Hope this helps in your case.

Thanks for the quick reply. I tried that OK button and did not have any success. I attached the an image to make sure we are talking about the same button.daq-ok.jpg

Yes that is the button I was talking about. I don't know how much help I can offer since I don't have your hardware and I have no thermocouples. Have you tried the 'run' button at the top of the DAQ assistant window? Do you get the "Building VI" progress bar after you click the 'OK' button?

Well that is very strange. If you double click that DAQ assistant is it still set up the way you left it? At this point I kind of at a loss. Maybe repair DAQmx? I thought maybe the channels you were using were reserved somewhere else since the picture you posted was 'DAQ Assistant2' Since I am not fimiliar with your chassis is there a example in the example finder you could try to make sure the other pieces of the puzzle are ok (hardware, communication etc.)?

Hi Icemaker,

If you have pressed the OK button in the DAQ Assistant and you still do not have any inputs or outputs, you should try repairing your DAQmx driver.   Please see the attached document for steps to uninstall or repair software.

How Do I Uninstall or Repair NI Software?

Write the code without DAQ assistant.

As suggested I did a repair of the drivers. It didn't seem to change anything. I was however able to copy and paste a DAQ from another VI I had and it seems to be working. More of a work around then a solution though.

Hi icemaker,

This points to the DAQ Assistant being corrupt. What version of DAQmx are you using?  Have you tried updating to the latest version of the driver?  You can find these online at the link below.

NI DAQmx 9.0.2
