Darren's Weekly Nugget 02/20/2006

Most of the LabVIEW veterans probably know this one, but for anybody who doesn't, this nugget is about to make your day.  If you want to scroll the frames of a Case Structure, usually you click the left/right arrows in the selector at the top, or you click the down arrow to get a list of cases so you can select one.  Well check this out...you can also scroll the cases of your Case Structure with your mouse scroll wheel!  Just put your mouse cursor in an empty space of the Case Structure diagram, hold down the Ctrl key, and start scrolling the different case diagrams with your mouse wheel!  I found this one out a few years ago, and it still remains one of my top "holy crap, that is so cool!" LabVIEW features...I use it dozens of times every day.  This trick also works on other multi-frame structures, like Event Structures.  It also works on Stacked Sequence Structures (but you shouldn't be using those anyway...) 😉

I keep managing to forget that one. I hope this time it will stick.

Darren,

On the Mac (OS X 10.4.5) it does not work at all in LV7.1.1 and in LV8 it requires the Cmd button, not Control. Which is somewhat wierd, because most apps on the Mac use the Cmd key for context sensitive clicks, but LV8 now requires Control. Very hard to change habits for one application.

Sorry Lynn, can't say I try all of these out on all platforms before posting them.  😉  Should I start calling them Windows McNuggets instead?

Darren,

No need. I appreciate your efforts to provide the Nuggets (whatever flavor). I was just letting other Mac users know that this one was somewhat platform dependent.

As I said, Darren, you should probably add the link to the BP thread to your signature, or people are likely to keep asking this question.

Ok fine, I'll start posting the link to the Breakpoint thread at the end of each nugget every week.  But that's as far as I'll go.  No signature.  The Nugget Master has spoken.
