Diagram no.
FP yes.

Needs preferences for this functionality. just like how auto-cleanup has an extensive set of options.
This is the most obvious improvement I can think of for LabView. A user of any skill level would utilize it heavily.

Thank you everyone for your overwhelming response to my request. Out of 147 nuggets that I have posted over the years, this is the first one where I directly asked my readers to do something for me...makes me wonder if I should ask for stuff more often. 😉
Anyway, we've got the idea up to 194 kudos as of this writing, which ranks it at #11 on the "New" ideas list in the Idea Exchange. As AQ said earlier, this should be enough to get us moving forward on implementing this idea, or at the very least the hooks for it, in LabVIEW 2011. Now, to answer some of the questions asked upthread:
shb: My code is not in a state right now where I'd be comfortable posting it online. I will remember your request as things get more polished and I get ready to put it in the LabVIEW 2011 codebase.
Jack: The Front Panel Cleanup aspect of this feature has been prioritized lower than other parts (bigger conpane, moving errors/refnums, renaming errors/refnums, etc.). I'll see what I can do, but don't count on seeing it in 2011.
Stranman: When AQ and I were discussing the feature the other day, he also pointed out that some users may not want to see the new diagram cleaned up. If all goes well, my ideal is to make most of the operations I perform during subVI creation be enabled/disabled via INI tokens. This one would be disabled by default.
Sean-user: Ideally, all the INI tokens I'm envisioning would be exposed in Tools > Options. But I can guarantee we won't see that in LabVIEW 2011.

Well, I didn't vote for it* ;).
If you want, I have a few other ideas you can try to push.
* You gotta wonder how many people are going to miss that joke.
