When reading the datatype of a shared variable, the number sent by the IO node isn't the one corresponding with the list given in the help file...
For a "single" I get number (4) which is supposed to be (11)
thanks....

Don't be overly concerned. I was just making the note in case someone came along to try to answer a thread that had already been posted someplace else.
Unfortunately, what you saw is a common misunderstanding, though a perfectly reasonable one. Those PDA | FPGA | RT | DSC links are actually just search filters. This is not obvious (and it certainly wasn't to me until I saw what they were actually doing). This has been noted before that this is quite confusing and they should be removed.
Actually, there is no separate DSC forum, so to be honest I don't know where the best place to post your question would be.

With regards to your actual problem, I'm seeing the same thing (running LV 8.6.1 at the moment). This Page does not correctly tell you what the Data Type property outputs. The actual output is a Ring:
0: u32bitField
1: bool
2: double
3: string
4: custom
Anyone know what the story is here?
