One suggetion: What I do for Alpha-testing my developed apps is use a virtual machine running on my development machine. This allows me to have as many "virgin machines" as I want to try my work on, without having to have a whole desktop full of physical machines. Also, how bad can you screw up when you can also delete the virtual machine and start over easily.

Yes, we already have a couple systems being set up this way for that very purpose. I thought we would have trouble sharing or simulating hardware but it seems to be working well so far.
