Do LabView Developement System run on UMPC's WSVGA: 1024x600 ?

Hi, Good day to you,

I wish to have a install LabView Development System to the Ultra Mobile PC (UMPC) with Windows XP.
Referred to the system requirement on ni.com (http://www.ni.com/labview/requirements.htm) shown the minimum Screen Resolution required XGA type as 1024x768.

But the 'Tablet types' UMPC's screen resolution were WSVGA as 1024x600 maximum as reference below:

Is it possible to run the LabView development System on WSVGA-1024x600 screen of tablet type UMPC?
Thanks

Learnarmy,

Labivew will work on this computer regardless of the screen, and by that I mean that your can write programs and execute them. The problem is that you might have parts of the screen cutoff and it might be very hard to navigate the screen. I tested using 800x600 on my computer and it was OK except that half the functions pallete was cutoff and I could not get to it. You may have less items displayed on the pallete and it should be OK.

I you don't already have LabView, you can download a free evaluation copy from here and try it out.

I cant Imagine how that half the functions pallete was cutoff...

Can you rashly show me the print screen please?

I cant try it because I dont hv a 1024x600 panel to test. And I just plan to Buy a tablet type UMPC.

 Have a nice day 🙂

Hi,

This is how it would look like and there is no way to get to the parts of the pallete that are not visible.

Please see the attachement below.

I got it. That means those WSVGA UMPC is able to run the LabView Development System.
Just the problem of LabView's window apperant was the inconvenient to do development.

But for the VI's application (.exe) can be design as likely LabView's window area.
Therefore, even the screen deisplay as 800x600 was also can got the likely display of application VI.

Am I right?

Thanks for your information.
The tablet type's UMPC with touch-screen is really good for embedded system as working with USB-DIO.

Yes, that is correct. Your program should run with no problems. Another issue, what operating system is the computer using? is it regular Win XP or Win XP embedded. If its XP embedded it should also work fine but it is not officially supported by National Instruments.

If you are trying to develop software for embedded applications I would recommend using a Touch Panel that uses Windows CE, using this you can then program your application in LabView in a regular computer and using the LabView touch panel module, you can compile the code to run on your touch panel.

Thanks Eli_S,

So you means 'Windows CE with LabVIEW Run_time Engine 'is able to run the LabVIEW application as what I usually run on Windows XP?

As you mention of 'Windows CE', is it same as 'Windows Embedded CE'? as link below.

Thanks

If your PC is running windows (embedded) CE, you need to use Labview Touch Panel and compile your application specifically for this. You cannot just run a regular LabView application in this environment.
