Editing an existing labview program

Hi There

I am not able to edit an existing labview program made by some company for a particular machine. I need to add one more feature into the program but i just cant add any elements onto the block diagram. what could be the problem. is the program locked? if so how can i go about editing it?

Thank you

Shab

Hi Shab,

if you see the blockdiagram then it seems to be locked. You can unlock it with Strg+M.

Shab,

if the VI is locked, you cannot see the blockdiagram.

So i asume that you are seeing a clone of a vi (displayed like <viname.vi>(clone<clonenumber>)). You can switch to the VI itself by pressing Ctrl + M.

hope this helps,

Hi Shab,

maybe there is an layered text element. What can you see if you right click into the blockdiagram?

Can you upload your vi?

Hi mike

when i right click on the program nothing happens.

usually when i right click the functions pallate should come up. but that doesnt happen.

And i am sorry mike, i have been told by my professor not to share the programme because I guess we bought it from someone and I dont know what the actual matter is.

Shab,

what version of LabVIEW are you using?

What is your mouse pointer on the blockdiagram?

Hi

actually when we requested for the software from the company who made this software for our laser machine which was made with labview, they sent me this folder. now i need to make some changes to this programe. so i opened this folder called "source" which was sent to me. now the source contains 3 files :

1. 2183-CNT - Notepad file

2. 2183-CNT.llb

3. text recipe editor.llb

so it is in the block diagram of this 2183-CNT.llb that i am not able to make changes.

but i have figured out that using the text recipe editor i can open all the individual VIs that have been used in the 2183-CNT.llb

so how do I make the block diagram of 2183-CNT.llb editable?

Hi norbert

I am using labview 8.2 but not yet activated my package.

My mouse pointer on the block diagram is a "HAND" which is unusual.

thanks

hi guys

I got the solution to my problem. when i opened the block diagram, it always started to be under running mode. so i was not able to edit it obviously. never realised that earlier.

i am really sorry for wasting your time. pls excuse me. its just that i am very new to labview , so i have a lot of these beginner's doubts.

Sorry again
