Elusive Measurement & Automation Explorer

I've just started using labview, and am trying to get another persons
program working. The problem I am having is that the communication is done
via an RS-485 pci card that is set up as COM5 and COM6, but I don't think
the program knows this, and is trying to use some other communication ports.
I've looked all through the help and online help, and it always directs me
towards the Measurement & Automation Explorer. Unfortunately, I don't seem
to have one of these anywhere. It is supposed to be under the tools menu,
but on every single window i've opened it is never there. I'm using version
6i.

Does any of this sound familiar to anyone? Any hints or tips on fixing this
will be greatly appreciated!

Regards
Rob Smith

The Measurement & Automation Explorer (named MAX for short) is a utility which recognizes National Instruments hardware and allows you to interface this with LabVIEW more easily. Depending upon the brand of serial card you are using, it may recognize the card. Because you have LabVIEW version 6i, you should have MAX on your computer. If you are running Windows, select Start>>Programs>>Nationa Instruments>>Measurement & Automation. This should launch the explorer from where you can troubleshoot your COM ports.
