I'm having the same problem with an Agilent ESA E4405b Spectrum analyzer. However I have an additional kink. It runs right the 1st time. Then if I try to run it again it gives the
−1073807346 | The given session or object reference is invalid. |
It runs fine from my LapTop before I make it an application but once built, installed and run it acts up. Even reboot for the PC, USB-GPIB, and Spectrum Analyzer fails to correct the problem.
Max finds and lets me control the SA every time. I'm running out of ideas on how to troubleshoot this thing. My next step is to build a simple app that does a simple VISA find.

I found it. I have a calibration routine that logs when a cal is done and checks the latest cal so that it can rerun it every 12 hours. Well the VISA pass through was trapped inside a case structure. When the cal ran everything was OK. When the SA was in cal and no cal required the VISA pass through didn't get updated and passed out an incorect VISA ref.
