Error 1184

Hi,

  I'm trying to read a shared variable created on a Window's XP machine from a Mac OS X machine, but I get an error from the datasocketopen that the path name is wrong.  The computers recognize one another, so it's not an issue of connectability.  How do I set up the correct psp path name?  I currently have something like psp:\\hostcomputer_name\share_library\share_variable.

Hi HEDP,

Are you using the DataSocket Select URL VI?  That will ensure the path name is correct.  Does using the IP address of the computer instead of the computer name give error 1184 as well?  Also, are there any firewalls that could be blocking communication, and are you able to read the shared variable on the Windows machine hosting it?
